We all know how beavers endlessly bicker right? Never thinking of anyone else but demanding their own way. We know how their constant squabbling causes problems for all the animals in the forest and it takes some special level-headed politicians to set things in order again, doesn’t it? Because the senate is wise.
The Senate wrote a kids’ book: ‘Wise owls’ bring order to forest of bickering beavers and bears
OTTAWA — In a forest full of bickering beavers and bears, a band of wise owls brings order to chaos, spotting, from its lofty perches, perfect ways to unite the animal kingdom.
This fairy-tale scenario is how the Senate is branding itself to kids in a new picture book obtained by the National Post, which describes itself on the back cover as an “endearing, whimsical fable” that’s “sure to appeal to children of all ages.”
The Senate is often in crosshairs.
Though ghosts of expense scandals past are starting to fade and “modernization” is underway amid an influx of independent senators, individual appointees are still prompting bad publicity to rain down on their chamber.
So to make sure little children fall asleep with the reminder that they can’t be expected to govern themselves, the Canadian Senate has published a picture book fairy tale about why their wisdom is needed to run a forest successfully. It will be published as a ‘pamphlet’ and available soon.
Now I’m no anarchist, and I believe government is necessary and can be useful, but the idea of the SENATE teaching BEAVERS the right thing to do makes me want to spray paint on the flag. Honestly, this self-righteous blindness can’t be working in their favor, can it? I’m pretty sure that is a fair amount of anti senate feeling in Canada too.
Fortunately the entire PDF is available online, so you can treat yourself to their wisdom by scrolling through below. My favorite part is how the most popular animals were elected to the council, but owls are just chosen by birthright. Because WISDOM!
