Because the beaver isn't just an animal; it's an ecosystem!

EVERYBODY IS CRAZY FOR BEAVERS THESE DAYS

If you’re like me you have noticed that it seems like everybody and his younger brother has been chomping at the bit to celebrate beavers or bring them closer. Now the Smithsonian is calling them fire breaks and the Outdoor magazine is saying they can save salmon.  It’s like those old days in High School where you were the first one to wear a jacket from the navy surplus and suddenly everyone around you at lunch is in camo.

I never expected this headline, though.

Dolphins found in Beaver Dam Creek returned to ocean

The two dolphins rescued from the marshes of Beaver Dam Creek were released off of a beach in Dennis, according to the Wareham Department of Natural Resources.

At approximately 10:45 a.m. Monday, Dec. 8 the department received a call about two live stranded dolphins in the marshes of Beaver Dam Creek. The International Fund for Animal Welfare team responded with marine animal rescue trucks and volunteers to conduct the rescue.

Harbormaster Garry Buckminster told Wareham Week that the pair were examined and released within a few days of their rescue.

Dolphins are smart. Maybe they wanted to learn how to make dams too?
