I need one of those war room walls with TV screens of all over the globe showing the creeping contagion of beaver festivals s[reading across the hemispheres. I seem to remember there was one in Spain not too long ago. Well, now we can add Calgary to the list.
Beaver Fest brings Calgarians closer to nature
Calgary’s first Beaver Fest, organized by Land Lovers Network, brought conservation groups, educators, and community members together to celebrate beavers and raise awareness about protecting them.
Attendees gathered at Vista Point in North Glenmore Park in mid-October to talk about beavers’ roles in Alberta.
Land Lovers Network said a healthy beaver habitat can help communities think differently about major water challenges in Southern Alberta, such as drought, flooding, and wildfires.
Additionally, beaver dams slow and store water, create wetlands, provide habitats for wildlife, support biodiversity, and filter water, making it even more important to protect beaver populations.
Excellent start to a fine campaign! I’m checking the photos for the dynamic FESTIVAL part of the day and can’t quite see it. But maybe that’s just me. They definitely have the language down.

Just remember even if your gathering has a slow start it’s STILL the biggest environmental beaver festival Calgary has ever known. Give me a call if you want some ideas for the next one.
