FROM CDFW
Meet Butte County’s newest landscape architects!
The CDFW Beaver team and Butte County Resource Conservation District recently rescued and relocated beavers to suitable habitat, giving these hardworking ecological engineers a change of scenery so they could positively change the landscape of this meadow. This is the first time beavers have been released on a CDFW property!
By building dams and creating ponds, beavers help restore wetlands, improve water storage, slow water flow and create improved habitat for fish, birds and other wildlife. Their construction projects can also promote more resilient ecosystems.
By helping beavers return to places they can thrive, CDFW and its partners are working to support the many ecological benefits these remarkable animals can provide.
