Oooh here’s what to do if you’re in Virginia this month. I wish I could be there.
Coexisting with your ‘beaver buddies’
The Rappahannock County Public Library and the Rappahannock League for Environmental Protection (RLEP) are co-hosting a nature talk on “Coexisting with Our Beaver Buddies” on Monday, Feb. 23 at 6:30 p.m. at the library, 4 Library Road, Washington.
The talk, part of the 4th Monday Speaker Series on the “Nature of Rappahannock,” is being given by Alison Zak, founder and executive director of the Human-Beaver Coexistence Fund (HBCF).
Alison is a great teacher and the talk should be both instructive and FUN. Check it out.
Beavers are nature’s original engineers — shaping waterways, restoring wetlands and strengthening ecosystems wherever they live. Yet as beavers return to many landscapes, their remarkable skills can sometimes clash with human needs. Zak will explore how to move beyond conflict and toward practical, science-based solutions that allow people and beavers to thrive.
Nicely put. Here’s to a beaver world that’s beyond conflict.
